Style and Service, Always.

Gallatin Valley Furniture offers a beautifully eclectic selection of unique, high-quality furniture, supported by fresh, mountain-home design expertise. We are a fourth-generation family-owned furniture store and design center in Bozeman, Montana. Our stylings are sourced from personal relationships with over one hundred trusted vendors.

Our showroom lets clients experience both the style and comfort of each piece for themselves, while inspiring the creative process of selection and design. And with the in-house team of design experts, our clients can be assured their vision is realized from concept to creation.

Family Owned & Operated since 1946

In 1946, just after the end of WWII, Gallatin Valley Furniture opened its doors at 303 East Main in downtown Bozeman. With the hard work and vision of Don and Veronica DeCosse, and later, Don’s father Edmund, the business began to thrive, one customer at a time.

In the early 1970s, Jim Decosse, the son of Don and Veronica, entered the family business, followed by Veronica’s son-in-law and daughter, Dennis and Michelle Cattin. Family patriarch Don Decosse shared with each of them the fundamentals of the furniture and flooring business, and the importance of providing a great experience to each customer. It was during those years that Gallatin Valley Furniture expanded from its original downtown location to its current North 7th Avenue showroom.

In 2006, Gallatin Valley Furniture became a fourth-generation business, with Brian Cattin, Dennis and Michelle’s middle son, joining the team.

In 2011, Greg Cattin, Dennis and Michelle’s youngest son, also joined the family business. Much like Don’s guidance to Jim and Dennis, four decades prior, both Brian and Greg learned the fundamentals of the business from their father and uncle.

The level of client service that started back on East Main Street nearly 80 years ago remains a foundational piece of our work. And while a few pieces remain lasting style statements, Gallatin Valley Furniture cultivates our showroom selection around fresh new favorites.

What inspired you to become a designer: To me, design is a medium to explore new perspectives and experiences. Through it, we can create new ideas, experience emotions, and transform our sense of identity.

Why did you choose Bozeman: Bozeman is growing so fast and with that the opportunities are growing exponentially. My fiancé and I made the move from our hometown of Rapid City, SD to challenge ourselves professionally, to explore the beautiful nature that Montana has to offer, and to eventually raise a family in this incredible community.

Three words that describe you: Curious, understanding, driven.

Hobbies: I love anything to do with textiles! Sewing is my go-to, but I also crochet, knit, and embroider. Beyond crafting, I enjoy going to concerts, doing anything outside, trying new foods, and practicing yoga. I am a certified yoga instructor!

What inspired you to become a designer: I studied magazine design in college and in the beginning of my career, I designed and wrote magazine spreads about interior design, art, and fashion. When researching articles, I was invited into some extraordinary homes and realized that I wanted to be designing those spaces, not just writing about them.

Why did you choose Bozeman: I grew up in Denver and moved to Chicago after college. I always wanted to return to the mountain west and the Bozeman area reminds me of the Colorado of my childhood.

Three words that describe you: Ambitious, optimistic, genuine.

Hobbies: Hiking, kayaking, reading, going to concerts, drawing, painting, and traveling.

What inspired you to become a designer: Growing up in the family business, my favorite part has always been helping clients turn their house into their dream home.  This may sound corny but whether it’s a single lamp to dress up the living room, or a full-blown interior design package, I enjoy simply going through the process with the client—I love to watch their excitement and enthusiasm.

Why did you choose Bozeman: I didn’t, my parents chose it for me, and I can’t complain.  Born and raised, not many of us are out there any more these days.

Three words that describe you: Empathetic, caring, inspiring.

Hobbies: Cooking, photography, camping, hiking and fly fishing, traveling.

Why did you choose Bozeman: I was fortunate to be born and raised here.

Three words that describe you: Social, charismatic, driven.

Hobbies: Golfing, snowboarding, fly fishing, and hiking.

We’d love to help bring your vision to life.
